GEOGRAPHICAL PROCESSES
The geographical processes of Urban growth and Decline are:
- Urban Sprawl: This is the outgrowth of cities at the urban rural fringe
- The doughnut effect: This is where the people move from the city centre to the cities outer suburbs
- Urban Decline: This is where the inner city falls into disrepair because people have moved out
- Urban Consolidation: This is where more people are housed into a smaller area
- Urban Renewal: This is where there is redevelopment of brownfield sites and slums for higher density
- Reurbanisation: This is where people move back into the inner city and change and renovate the old buildings to make them trendy to live in.
This is an example of urban sprawl
